Last week, the Winter Gardens hosted a fantastic Ramadan event to celebrate Iftar, the breaking of fast, where anyone was welcome to attend. With lectures, speeches, prayers, songs and lots of delicious food—it was unmissable and a great way to bring the community together and enrich people in the culture.

RHL Activities are excited to support our students at Weston College with work experience at events, covering writing, photography and media work. They will also be providing us with guest lectures from their Company Director (Gareth Hockey) and possible work experience opportunities at RHL Activities covering departments that are involved in their events.

On Thursday 6th March, Weston College celebrated the incredible achievements of over 30 students and staff at its annual Celebration of Success event. The event was hosted at the Winter Gardens Pavilion and recognised the dedication and outstanding achievements of students and staff from all ages and disciplines. 

The students were nominated by college staff and the winners were selected by a panel, including the College's Principal, Deputy Principal, Chief Operating Officer and the Governing Body.

Last month, Weston College was lucky enough to gain funding from the Turing Scheme to take our Performing Arts students on a 15-day trip to New York City, where students not only got to experience all the sights of a big city, but also got to take part in many activities and attractions that have furthered their skills and knowledge of the industry. 

Early Years Students Receive a Family Services Workshop

This week, Emma Pattinson and Abi Steven from North Somerset Council Parenting Team visited our Year 2 Early Years T Level learners to discuss the impact that a child’s environment can have on their development.

This workshop focused on Parental Conflict and the impact on children, adolescent brain development, and trauma informed approaches. These are all very important topics for the future generation of early years educators to understand and be aware of.

Photography Students Capture Unmissable Pet Portraits

Last month, members of the public had the opportunity to book their dogs onto a free pet photoshoot in the photography studios at Loxton Campus. These sessions were run by Year 1 and Year 2 Level 3 Photography students, offering them a valuable hands-on learning experience.

Now in its ninth year, the C2I Awards were established to spotlight exemplary engineering collaborations that address complex societal challenges and advanced innovation.
