Starting at a big college after spending years in a school environment might seem like a massive step...

If you're not sure what you'll need to bring on your first day, the list below should point you in the right direction.

Your student badge On Top Single Block Light Gray

To get into a Weston College campus, you'll need to be wearing the student badge you'll be given at enrolment. All of our campuses are protected by barriers to stop unauthorised people getting in. If you forget your badge, don't worry - just ask for a temporary one at reception!

A notebook and pens On Top Single Block Medium Gray

This might seem like an obvious suggestion - but you'd be surprised by how many classes start with people asking for pens and paper! To avoid this, it's a good idea to invest in a notepad (lined, A4 is the best) and a couple of pens.

You can always grab a handful of Weston College pens at an open evening or Freshers' Festival!

Your student planner On Top Single Block Light Gray

You'll be given a student planner when you enrol, and it's a good idea to bring this in with you as it's a useful way for you to keep track of homework and assignments. Unlike many schools, we don't ask you to get your planner signed by your parents, and using it is entirely optional - you might prefer to log things into your phone etc.

Sensible clothes On Top Single Block Blue

At Weston College, you’ll be given the freedom to express yourself through what you wear. We recommend wearing clothes that are comfortable and won’t affect your learning. For some courses you’ll be asked to wear a professional kit which reflects the type of clothing you’ll wear if you go on to work in the industry.

Other useful items There are many other things that will come in handy but aren't essential. Here are some other things you might want to consider... On Top Single Block Light Gray

A bag

Keeping everything in a bag means you won't forget anything. Backpacks are the best kind of bag for carrying lots of items throughout the day.

A laptop or tablet

You could bring in your own or borrow one from the LibraryPlus at your campus.

Lunch/snacks

You can bring a packed lunch, eat at the canteen or coffee shop at your campus, or venture into town to a cafe or restaurant. Many local cafes and shops have discounts for Weston College students, including the Florentine at the Winter Gardens and the Starbucks opposite the Knightstone Campus.
