If you’re passionate about fitness, sport, and living an active lifestyle, this pathway is the perfect way to build your confidence and skills. You’ll explore a wide range of practical and theoretical topics while preparing for further study in sport, fitness, or uniformed protective services.
Course Overview
This engaging programme is based at our Health and Active Living Skills Centre, home to specialist facilities including fitness suites, sports halls, 3G pitches, and outdoor training areas. Designed as an accessible entry point into the world of sport, this pathway helps you develop practical confidence, teamwork, and essential knowledge of health, exercise, and physical activity.
Your tutors are experienced in coaching, personal training, and sports development, bringing real industry insight into every lesson. The course focuses on hands-on learning, physical sessions, and active participation to help you build foundational skills before progressing to Level 2 or Level 3 study.
You will automatically become part of our Sport & Fitness Career Excellence Hub which brings you lots of career-boosting benefits. Weston Sport programmes are developed in collaboration with leading employers and organisations to ensure industry practices are embedded within each programme. We work with key local employer partners which ensures that your study programme makes you job ready. Our partners include: Bristol Bears and Bristol Bears Women, West of England Sport Trust (Wesport, North Somerset Council, Weston AFC Football Club.

Entry Requirements
- Five GCSEs with two at grade 3
- A keen interest in fitness, sport, or physical activity
What can I do after this course?
- Progress to Sport CIMSPSA, Sport & Exercise Science, or Sports Coaching at Level 2/3
