What will I study?
- 1 year – this course is an introductory course into the sport and fitness industry. You will develop a wide range of skills through community-based projects, work related experience and practical activities
- You will gain knowledge and skills of how to plan and deliver successful coaching sessions, alongside wider considerations such as safeguarding, nutrition and anatomy
- Progression – L2 Course
The college wide level 1 programme will also focus on vocational skills such as:
- Studying towards your maths and English
- Building confidence and personal development
- Encouraging teamwork
Entry Requirements
- 5 GCSEs grade 3-1 with two at grade 3
- Keen interest in sport
Progression

Uniform Information
- Learners are expected to buy a couple of items of kit for practical lessons or when they are representing the college
- Learners will be provided with a kit list at enrolment with a link to purchase from NK sports
Trip Information
- Trips – USW for sport science
- Plymouth Marjon for sports coaching
- Careersfest at Ashton Gate
- Hoping for a trip to the Bristol Bears High Performance Centre
- Trip to London for a live fixture and stadium tour
- Potential for an abroad trip this year
Timetable
- L3 Sports Science are not in on a Wednesday
- L3 Coaching and L2 are in every day
- Maths and English are Thu and Friday morning for L2 (could change) *Wednesdays are fixture days. Across college Wednesday afternoons tend to be free

Academy
- Male and female football
- Male and female rugby
- Cricket
- Netball
- Students can do multiple sports (for example, football and then cricket)
- All teams play in regional leagues which are played on a Wednesday afternoon
- The football academy are a performance team who also have under 18 and under 19 teams which play evenings
- The rugby academies take part in regional tournaments and the Rosslyn Park 7s tournament
- Training is every Monday at 3:15 and Wednesday afternoons are fixtures or training if there is no game
- The male football academy also train at 3:15 on Fridays
- All academies are based at HALSC (Health and Living Skills Centre) except for the male football which is at the football club
- All are welcome to trial and join and there will be more information in induction week (Trials for next academic year are on the 15th November, and then again in the new year, Trials DO NOT mean commitment to the college)
- Trials for football are for those not already involved with Weston FC
- Teams that college play: College side – AOC South West league – Local college sides such as Richard Huish, Bridgwater, SGS
- Under 18s – Floodlit league – Teams such as Clevedon, Portishead, Paulton
- Under 19s – National league – Teams such as Dorking, Basingstoke, Poole Town
