Anne-Marie
Hairdressing and Barbering Lecturer
I have worked at Weston College for 12 years and I love my job as much as I did when I first started. I could not imagine working anywhere other than the Hair and Beauty department at the College! I love passing my skills and knowledge onto the next generations of Hairstylists and Barbers.
I have many years of industry experience within Hair and Barbering and I continue to work with clients when not lecturing at the College.
What I enjoy most about working in education is assisting the learners to recognise their strength and abilities and seeing them realise that with hard work and determination their goals can be achieved!
My advice to all learners is to be open to experience all opportunities and enjoy the challenges ahead. One of my biggest passions is introducing the competition side of Hairdressing and Barbering, which is an exciting way of showcasing students work alongside developing resilience, problem solving skills and confidence in preparation for working in the industry.
The industry has an endless amount of career paths including travelling across the world, self employment, working in salons, starting your own salons and even working on cruise ships!
