This week, one of our Electrical Apprentices, Marcus Pan, competed in the SPARKS Learner of the Year 2026 competition, working on an electrical build against other learners from across the UK. After winning the South West Regional competition in January, Marcus progressed to the final against 6 other regional winners and placed 2nd overall. A fantastic achievement and reflection of his hard work and dedication to his apprenticeship.

This adult course is perfect if you are looking to develop your skills in bricklaying, and gain employment in the industry.

This course will prepare you for life in the construction industry, with a mixture of practical hands-on training, as well some classroom-based theory lessons to develop technical knowledge.

Alongside developing your technical skills, you will be taught to work to recognised industrial standards and tolerances, and how to create a safe construction environment.

What will I study?

On this course we will cover a wide range of areas, and you will gain the following certificates:

Level 1 Certificate in Construction and Building Industries

Award in Health and Safety in a Construction Environment

You will participate in activities to develop skills in communication, teamwork and problem solving to ensure effective and safe working practices, as well a building rapport with those you work with.

Progression Opportunities

Once you have completed the course, you can either progress into a temporary or permanent role as a labourer, or you can progress into further training in trades such as brickwork and scaffolding.

Recently, our Construction learners delivered several high-quality flowerbeds to Weston Hospital for their Sanctuary Garden as part of the students’ Growth & Grace Community Action Project, creating a space that patients and staff can visit filled with plants and flowers that have been grown on site.
