This course is designed as an introduction to Health and Social Care, delivering a solid foundation for individuals interested in making a positive impact in the lives of others. Through a combination of theoretical learning and practical training, you will gain an understanding of healthcare principles, ethical considerations, and patient-centred care. Initially the course will focus on delivering the knowledge and skills necessary for working with vulnerable individuals, emphasising the significance of effective communication and safeguarding. The Health & Active Living Skills Centre at Loxton Campus is purpose-built to provide an exceptional learning experience and to meet the demands of the industry. The centre’s cutting-edge facilities include a simulation training hospital ward and hi-tech medical mannequins, allowing you hands-on experience with clinical procedures. Industry-leading virtual reality headsets and 360 video software immerse you in real-world healthcare scenarios. You will be taught by industry experts and, as the centre serves as a training hub for NHS staff, you’ll interact with professionals in various roles. The state-of-the-art resources and comprehensive training will ensure you’re well-prepared to excel in the health and social care sector.
WHAT DOES THIS COURSE INVOLVE
You will cover a range of topics and get involved in projects and activities designed to build your confidence and give you a real insight into the careers within Health and Social Care. The course will help you develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed to progress onto a Level 2 programme or apprenticeship. You will get the opportunity to gain industry experience through simulated practice and a work placement. As part of the programme, you will also develop your English and maths skills to the level required to work in the industry.
ASSESSMENT METHOD
You will be assessed through written coursework, projects, presentations, and practical experiences.
FUTURE OPPORTUNITIES
The skills you gain will boost your employment prospects in a wide range of sectors. The intent of this programme is to enable you to progress onto a Level 2 programme or an apprenticeship in a Health and Social Care.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
2 GCSE's with at least a 2 in English and Maths.
