Weston College's Automotive learners were given a fantastic opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of luxury automobiles during an unforgettable visit to Career Excellence Hub Partner, Mercedes-Benz, Weston-super-Mare dealership.

The amazing trip allowed learners to explore the garages and engage in enlightening conversations with managers, salesmen, and mechanics.

The automotive industry is a vast and exciting field that offers numerous opportunities for individuals who are passionate about cars and have the drive to succeed.

Five lucky students, from Weston College’s Automotive Career Excellence Hub, have been given the opportunity to gain paid work experience with Weston based company, ATS Euromaster.

ATS Euromaster offer a wide range of services, to help customers keep their car in peak, roadworthy condition.

I have worked in the Motor Vehicle industry for over 32 years. Before i started at Weston College, i did my work experience  in Motor Vehicle as well as an apprenticeship where i gained my MOT Tester status. I have experience working with a variety of cars including Rover and SEAT.

My favourite part of working at the College is passing on my years of knowledge to the learners. The courses are so engaging and offer real life experience to the students.

Weston College has been named as the Bristol and Bath Apprenticeship Provider of the Year for the third year in a row.

The awards were virtual this year, and were hosted by BBC personality, Ali Vowles. There were winners from across the region, as the hard work of apprentices, employers and training providers were recognised.

New Automotive Technology Centre opens at Weston College

A former Renault garage has been transformed into a state-of-the art education centre for Weston College Automotive students.

The £1 million refurbishment at the South West Skills Campus (SWSC) on Locking Road includes two large workshops, two computer suites and two hi-tech classrooms.

Applications have doubled for Automotive courses and now lecturers seek more employers to offer Apprenticeships and work experience.

Automotive Lecturer Ian Aldridge said: “Last year we had 60 full time students, this year we have over 120 training with us.
