Apprentice Development Engineer at OXFORD INSTRUMENTS PLC
- Learn and contribute to route cause analysis teams when development activities require a disciplined approach using techniques such as 5Whys or 8D
- Learn and use competently all company software to be able to understand drawings, SOPs, BOMs, Test documentation, Control plans and their uses
- Carry out testing of sub-assemblies or complete systems to confirm new or improved designs or parts work as expected whilst maintaining high standards of discipline recording data
- Undertake various placements throughout the company to be exposed to their working environment and be able to work within these areas for example: Production, Test, Inspection, Procurement, etc
- Training will also include attendance at college/university to study for the relevant qualifications as agreed between the company and yourself
- Continuously improve skill levels during your apprenticeship and training scheme and be competent and able to ask for help and advice as required
- Understand the processes for product development and be able to advise in design reviews, ultimately enabling us to produce better products
- Contribute within FMEA and Safety Reviews to ensure our products meet appropriate safety and compliance standards
At the end of your training:
- You will be able to operate our standard products safely and have a good appreciation for the mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, vacuum, and robotic handling systBe able to navigate around schematics and P&IDs on our tools to assist in any tool investigations
- Be able to support the design team and provide advice on DFA, DFM and DFS for our products
- Be responsible for authoring concise test documentation to support the departments test and validation activities
- Always comply to the company’s health and safety requirements and take a personal responsibility for others at all times
