What will I study?
This two-year course is equivalent to 3 A levels. It also has a licence to practice at a Level 3 Early Years Educator level in an early years setting.
This technical qualification has been developed in consultation with employers to ensure that you develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours required to work in the Early Years sector.
It will also provide you with the opportunity to progress to university or undertake a higher-level apprenticeship.
This qualification gives you insight into a range of subjects relating from birth to 19 years of age including:
- Health and safety
- Safeguarding
- Child development
- Equality and Diversity
- Observation, assessment, and planning
- Develop relationships with children to facilitate their development
- Understanding and managing behaviour
How will i be assessed?
This qualification is assessed through exams, work-based projects, industry placement, observations, presentations, and professional discussions.
Entry requirements
- A minimum of five GCSEs at grade 9-4 or a qualifying Level 2 qualification
- Grade 4 in Maths and English language or a previous level 2 qualification in the subject area, alongside Maths and English language ##Progression
This qualification will support learners on a range of progression routes including employment, higher education and higher apprenticeships. The T level programme is eligible for UCAS points equivalent to three A levels should learners wish
to progress onto degree level study. Some examples of degrees that have been progressed onto include:
BA (Hons) Early Years BA (Hons) Education, Society and Childhood *BA (Hons) SEND and Inclusive Practice
Placements
Placement is a vital part of this qualification with learners needing to spend 750 hours working with children across the 2-year course. You will spend 2 days each week in setting plus regular block placement weeks.
Timetable
Learners are required to attend three full days at college.
Learners will also attend two placement days per week (These are block placements throughout the year)
Learners will be released from college for one week to be solely at their placement. ##Additional information
Trip Information
Level 3 learners will have an opportunity to attend a European residential alongside our HE cohorts. More information will be shared when courses start.
Uniform
Uniform consisting of a Weston College polo top must be worn to placement and any stay & Play sessions within the college. Uniform must be purchased before the October half term. Alternatively, if learners are receiving bursary, curriculum can put in an order for them. (Bursary must have been applied for and awarded)
DBS Check
DBS Check Paid for by the college.
Learners must provide two references and a letter from their school before they are allowed on to their placements. These can be brought along to the DBS workshops.
Curriculum are running DBS workshops during the summer that learners can attend to make sure their DBS is completed before they start their courses. Learners need to bring three pieces of evidence, one of which must have a photograph (Driving license or passport). The others can be bank statement and birth certificate.
