Performing Engineering Operations EAL, Diploma
This Level 2 engineering programme is the ideal choice if you are new to the subject or have completed the Level 1 programme and want to enhance your skills. It will develop your skills in organising work and identifying and preventing problems.
This course will allow you to acquire some theoretical engineering knowledge but mostly practical skills in a controlled environment, with the opportunity to advance into a workplace environment afterwards as an apprentice to practice your hands-on learning techniques.
This course is part of our Career Excellence Hubs, which brings you closer to industry than ever before. You will hear from people within the industry, who will equip you with the latest skills, to enhance your future career opportunities.
This programme is seen by many employers as their preferred route into their apprenticeships.
What does the course involve?
The course will cover the fundamental skills and knowledge you will need to enter the engineering industry. You will have the choice and flexibility to learn about a variety of engineering activities, including health and safety requirements, communication, milling, turning, fabrication and CNC.
As part of this study programme, you will develop your maths and English skills, attend tutorials and Individual Development (ID). You will also complete a work placement or extended industry placement.
All aspects of your study programme will be discussed at your interview.
How will the course be assessed?
We’ll assess your workshop and practical skills and your portfolio, with no formal exam, so more focus is placed on progression on skills.
What future study opportunities and careers are there?
This qualification could be your first step into a career in the engineering sector. You could enhance your skills by progressing to a Level 3 engineering qualification or apprenticeship at Weston College.
