You'll develop the skills and knowledge needed to progress in plastering, whether you're looking to start a career in the construction industry or build on your existing experience.
As part of the course, you'll also learn fibrous moulding, a specialist plastering skill used to create decorative features such as ceiling roses, cornices and coving. This traditional craft is highly valued and can help you stand out within the industry.
What will I study?
During the course, you will cover:
- Health, safety and welfare in construction
- Principles of building construction
- Communication and working effectively on site
- Applying plastering materials to interior surfaces
- Laying floor screed systems
- Direct bonding, taping and jointing techniques
- Applying plastering materials to external surfaces
- Introduction to fibrous moulding and decorative plasterwork
You'll be encouraged to work independently and take responsibility for your own learning. Theory-based activities can be completed through Microsoft Teams, and you'll build an electronic portfolio of evidence throughout the course. Your tutor will provide support and guidance every step of the way.

Entry Requirements
To join this course, you should have either:
Previous experience working in the wet trades; or Successfully completed a Level 1 Plastering qualification.
Before starting the course, you'll take part in an initial skills assessment. This gives you the opportunity to try some of the practical elements of the course and helps our tutors ensure the programme is the right fit for your experience and goals.
