Weston College is expanding its apprenticeship offer with a range of new standards designed to help employers address current and future skills gaps. Developed in response to employer feedback, regional priorities and the Local Skills Improvement Plan (LSIP), these programmes are focused on developing the practical skills, knowledge and behaviours businesses need most.
Electrical Apprentice, Gracie, Wins Screwfix Trade Apprentice 2026

Earlier this month, our Electrical Installation Apprentice, Gracie Donaghy, was named joint winner of the Screwfix Trade Apprentice 2026 Award alongside another apprentice Petra O’Flaherty. Competing against more than 3,000 apprentices from across the UK and Ireland, Gracie successfully progressed through several challenging stages before being crowned one of just two winners.

Electrical Apprentice, Marcus, Achieves Runner-Up in SPARKS Competition

This week, one of our Electrical Apprentices, Marcus Pan, competed in the SPARKS Learner of the Year 2026 competition, working on an electrical build against other learners from across the UK. After winning the South West Regional competition in January, Marcus progressed to the final against 6 other regional winners and placed 2nd overall. A fantastic achievement and reflection of his hard work and dedication to his apprenticeship.

Plumbing Apprentice Wins Bursary from the Worshipful Company of Plumbers

This week, one of our third-year Plumbing & Heating Technician apprentices, Jack Winstone, has been awarded a prestigious £1,000 bursary for tools from the Worshipful Company of Plumbers in partnership with Monument Tools. This bursary is one of only six awarded nationally, making Jack’s achievement particularly remarkable.
India's Story: From Weston Bay to a Full-Time Weston College Employee
To celebrate AoC Colleges Week and International Women’s Day, Weston College wants to recognise the journey of one of our employees, India Pasby. From starting at Weston Bay to achieving a Distinction in her Level 2 Customer Service Apprenticeship, India’s journey at Weston College has been truly inspirational. She not only grew in confidence and developed her communication skills, but she has now secured a full-time position within Weston College’s Reception Customer Service team.
