Last month, our Education and Early Years students packed up six shoeboxes filled with toys and activities for children less fortunate this Christmas with the Samaritan's Shoebox Appeal. 

Preparing to Work in Early Years

This short course is designed to stimulate interest and encourage you to understand the skills and knowledge needed to care for young children.

It is aimed at a range of learners, including those who are thinking of working in childcare. It is also suitable for parents who wish to develop parenting skills, mature learners and young people needing to develop life skills.

The qualification you will gain is a Entry 3 Award in Childcare & Entry 3 Certificate in Vocational Studies - Childcare.

It’s T Levels Week so we want to discuss the different progression routes students can take after completing a T Level and the benefits they have on future careers. 

T Levels were officially launched in September 2020 but have already proved to be an excellent pathway for many learners, allowing them to progress onto apprenticeships, degree apprenticeships, university and full-time employment.  

Access to HE Diploma (Education, Youth Work and Child Development)

This exciting new course is designed for people aged 17–18 who are passionate about working with children and young people.

It is perfect for anyone aiming to start a career in teaching, child development, childcare, social work, or the criminal justice system.

Last week, Weston College opened its doors to new and returning students as they embarked on the start of the new academic year.  

Over three days, each CEH area welcomed first-year students with a wide variety of activities designed to help them settle in, build friendships, and get familiar with both their learning environment and the tools they’ll be using throughout their studies.
