This Level 1 Diploma is the perfect introduction to the sports industry, designed to provide you with the skills and knowledge you need to pursue a career in sport, fitness, and exercise. You will develop a wide range of skills through community-based projects, work related experience and practical activities, and you will gain an understanding of the principles and practices that underpin the world of sports. You will study four core units and six sport units over the year, to help you decide which area of sport and fitness is best suited to your skillset. Whether aspiring to become a professional athlete, coach, sports therapist, or sports administrator, this diploma equips learners with the essential skills and knowledge to excel in the exciting and rewarding field of sports.

WHAT DOES THIS COURSE INVOLVE
The course will include coaching skills, training for fitness, playing sport and how exercise affects the body. You will undertake assessments that will demonstrate your skills and keep a portfolio of your assignments. Opportunities will be available to join our sports academy and progress as an athlete.
At Weston College, you will undertake a tailored Individual Development (ID) programme where you develop in core skills to prepare you for employment, whilst also receiving tutorial support.
We will also work with you to develop your English and maths skills to the level required to work in the industry. You can feel proud in achieving a Level 1 qualification because, whatever your plans, success in your programme will help you progress to the next stage of your learning.
We’ll assess you in a range of methods, including, practical and written assignments, presentations, work-based projects and will provide you with support to succeed.
This programme could be your first step towards a career in the sports and active leisure industry. You could increase your skills, knowledge, behaviours, and potential by progressing onto our Level 2 Sport qualifications.
A minimum of five GCSEs at grade 3-1 with at least two at grade 3, or a pre-vocational programme.
