Course Overview
The Digital Production, Design & Development T Level is a two-year technical qualification, equivalent to three A Levels, that combines classroom learning with extensive industry experience. Developed in partnership with employers, this course gives you the knowledge and practical skills needed for careers in software development, digital production, and IT while preparing you for the rapidly evolving technology sector.
Based at Knightstone Campus, you'll study in industry-standard computing facilities using the latest software, development tools, and collaborative technologies. You'll be taught by experienced digital professionals and complete a minimum 45-day industry placement, applying your skills in a real workplace. As a member of Weston College's Digital Career Excellence Hub, you'll also benefit from employer projects, networking opportunities, guest speakers, and careers support throughout your studies.
What will I study?
You'll develop technical knowledge and practical skills in:
• Software development and programming languages
• Database design and management
• Networking fundamentals
• Cyber security principles
• User experience (UX) and user interface (UI) design
• Digital project management
• Software testing, debugging, and deployment
• Emerging technologies and digital innovation
You'll also develop essential employability skills including problem solving, teamwork, communication, and project management.
How will I be assessed?
Assessment includes:
• On-programme practical projects and assignments
• External examinations
• Employer-set projects linked to your industry placement
• Final T Level assessments, including a synoptic project and employer evaluation
Successful completion leads to a nationally recognised T Level qualification graded Pass, Merit, Distinction, or Distinction* and carries UCAS tariff points for higher education.

Entry Requirements
• A minimum of five GCSEs at grades 9–4, including English and maths
You'll also need a genuine interest in computing, coding, or digital technologies. Previous IT or computing experience is helpful but not essential.
