Skills For English
English courses can improve your communication skills, helping you progress in work and everyday life.
Reading, writing, speaking and listening are all skills needed by employers, so boosting yours could help you take the next step to a better job. All courses lead to a recognised certificate, whether it is an entry-level course, or a level 1 or 2 course (equivalent to GCSE).
During this course, we will be looking at the foundation of English Skills to help build your confidence both in the workplace as well as how English is applied in everyday life.
During this time, you will be able to ‘brush up’ on any existing skills and knowledge as well as developing new ones.
What will I study?
We will look closely at what English skills are most relevant – these include: using punctuation and developing spelling, writing accurately, writing to communicate, reading for information, reading for purpose and meaning and verbal and non-verbal communication skills.
Progression Opportunities
This course will give you the opportunity if you wish, to progress on to taking your Functional Skills English exam and move on to a higher-level English programme (if applicable to your chosen next steps). This course is also for those on their journey of being ready to potentially achieve their English GCSE.
This is a programme designed to help get you ready for employment, further study and everyday life.
Additional Support
We offer careers advice, guidance and support to everyone that studies on one of our courses.
