This course offers a broad introduction to the world of business, giving you the chance to explore key areas like finance, marketing, and starting your own business.
It provides a mix of classroom learning and practical experiences, helping you build the skills and knowledge needed to progress onto higher-level study or move into the workplace.
What will I study?
The course is split into different units allowing learners to explore different areas of Business. E.g.
- Finance
- Marketing
- Retail in business
- Starting your own business
- Branding
- Managing teams
In the months leading up to Christmas as part of Enterprise you will be giving £50 to set up a business where you will make and sell products to earn more money. Students get a lot of support from local business reps such as Michelle Micheals.
How will I be assessed?
The course is classroom based and includes two exams, with the rest of the course being coursework based. The course is 60% coursework.
Entry requirements
You’ll need a minimum of five GCSEs at grades 9–2 (with at least two at grade 4) or a qualifying Level 1 qualification, and while Maths and English aren’t required, you must show a genuine interest in the subject and potential careers in the animal sector.
Progression
This programme is a stepping stone option for people to access the Level 3 Business of T-Level Business provision but also provides some chances to get straight out into work, particularly retail.
Additional Information
Trips
Trips are planned based on demand, with a large foreign residential likely once every two years. Previous trips have included: New York, London, Thatcher's where they offer a quality brewery tour, NatWest, Thorpe Park.
Winter wonderland and Travel Mendip Activity Centre where you partake in free activities.
