Accounts/Finance Assistant, Apprenticeship
An apprenticeship in accounting or finance is an excellent starting point for anyone interested in pursuing a career in these fields. This apprenticeship will give you a solid foundation in fundamental topics, including financial accounting, bookkeeping, payroll, and taxation. You will learn to use financial software, contribute to accurate financial analysis, and communicate effectively in a business environment.

They will guide you through your study programme and placement, and ensure you’re fully prepared for your next steps after college.
WHAT DOES THIS COURSE INVOLVE
The Level 2 apprenticeship provides valuable workplace skills and experience, while you earn a wage. You will spend four days a week with an employer and one day or two evenings a week at college to learn the theoretical elements of the role. You will undertake a number of qualifications including the AAT Level 2 in Accounting. This programme covers a range of topics such as bookkeeping and costing etc. We will also work with you to develop your maths and English skills.

Deals effectively with a range of stakeholders using appropriate communication methods to deliver accurate and timely results.

Utilises relevant office and accounting software packages to input and manage data accurately.

Ability to maintain the security of accounting information using passwords and other appropriate security measures.

Ability to organise self, prioritise workload and activity to meet deadlines.

Actively identifies team workload problems and offers to support peers where appropriate.

Ability to understand issues beyond own remit.
ASSESSMENT METHOD
You will complete the AAT examinations, a synoptic assessment, and an end-point assessment.
FUTURE OPPORTUNITIES
Most Weston College apprentices are kept on by their employer after they finish their programme. After this apprenticeship, you could progress to the Assistant Accountant Apprenticeship Level 3.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Maths and English GCSE 9-5 or Functional Skills. You will also need to be in relevant employment, but we can support you to find this.
