This course gives you an in-depth look at business, covering key areas like management, decision making, and events, while giving you practical experience through projects like the Enterprise challenge.
With a mix of coursework, exams, and work experience, it prepares you with the skills and knowledge to progress into work or university.
What will I study?
Topics covered on the course include those above (from level 2) in more detail, but also:
- Managing businesses
- Business decision making
- Training and Development
- Recruitment
- Events management
In the months leading up to Christmas as part of Enterprise you will be given £50 to set up a business where you will make and sell products to earn more money. Students get a lot of support from local business reps such as Michelle Michaels
How will I be assessed?
The course has a short work experience expectation and has 4 exams with the other 9 units being assessed through coursework. The course has some significant project-based work that runs alongside the course.
The course is 60% coursework. Foundation work in the first year and the second year is applying those techniques.
Entry requirements
Min 5 GCSE grade 9-4 or a qualifying level 2 qualification. Must have one of maths or English Must show an interest in the subject area – potential careers
Progression
Learners progress from this course into work or university.
Timetable
Four days a week, with some half days depending on learners needs to complete Maths or
English. Spare day is used for placement
Additional Information
Trips
Trips are planned based on demand, with a large foreign residential likely once every two years.
Previous trips have included: New York, London, Thatcher's where they offer a quality brewery tour, NatWest, Thorpe Park.
Winter wonderland and Travel Mendip Activity Centre where you partake in free activities.
