A LEVELS AT WESTON COLLEGE SIXTH FORM
Our Sixth Form provides you with the platform to express your individuality and flourish by focusing on the subjects that pique your interest.
A Levels are perfect for students who want to follow routes that include undergraduate degree-level study, degree apprenticeships or a professional career.
ARE A LEVELS FOR YOU?

- Yes – if you want the option of choosing a variety of subjects (study three or in some cases, four subjects) before deciding which one area of specialism you would like to pursue at university or as a career.

An A Level is a Level 3 qualification an learners typically choose three or four subjects to study over a two-year period. Which A Levels you study can affect your choices at university and your future career. Take a look at our options below to understand which subjects open up different degrees, degree apprenticeships and ultimately careers. We can also provide you with guidance at open events and at your guidance interview to help you make an informed choice.
From September 2025, Weston College will reintroduce the AS Level structure in the first year of our A Level programmes.
This means students will gain a nationally recognised qualification at the end of Year 1, worth 40% of a full A Level. AS Levels provide a strong foundation in each subject, boost confidence ahead of final exams, and offer greater flexibility, allowing students to start with up to four subjects and carry three through to full A Level in Year 2.

<p>Learners studying A Level Fashion went on a trip to the Victoria and Albert Museum, in Knightsbridge, London last Friday. </p><p>44 learners in total went on the trip, where they had the opportunity to visit an array of exhibitions, including DIVA, which is running until April 2024.</p><p>DIVA celebrates the power and creativity of iconic performers, exploring and redefining the role of 'diva' and how this has been subverted or embraced over time across opera, stage, popular music, and film.</p><p>There was a spectacular collection of costumers which were worn by icons including Maria Callas, CHER, Rihanna, Elton John and Marilyn Monroe.</p><p>Lecturer in Textiles, Nicola Stent, who ran the trip, said: “At Weston College we are passionate about giving our learners the opportunity to broaden their horizons, which is a critical part of our Career Excellence Hubs.</p><p>“This trip allowed learners to not only expand their knowledge, but also cultivate the skills and maturity necessary for their future endeavours.</p><p>“Witnessing the passion and enthusiasm of our learners, I was deeply impressed by their attitude towards learning. <p paraeid="{bb51a2f5-0bbe-4c92-bbc7-231b8acb99d6}{173}" paraid="725993375">We are so thrilled to celebrate the outstanding success of a Weston College Fashion and Textiles A Level learner, Tom, who recently completed an exciting work experience opportunity at the renowned tailoring establishment <a href="https://www.anderson-sheppard.co.uk/" rel="noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">Anderson & Sheppard</a> on Savile Row, London. </p>
<p paraeid="{bb51a2f5-0bbe-4c92-bbc7-231b8acb99d6}{199}" paraid="1287351323">Tom's journey to this exceptional experience began with his proactive approach. He took the initiative to contact Anderson & Sheppard, a 117-year-old tailoring house located at Mayfair’s historic No. 32 Old Burlington Street. Tom reached out to the Managing Director and, after careful consideration of his CV, he was granted the opportunity to participate in a day of hands-on learning on July 11th. </p>
<p paraeid="{bb51a2f5-0bbe-4c92-bbc7-231b8acb99d6}{227}" paraid="185259735">During his time at Anderson & Sheppard, Tom delved into the intricate world of tailoring, gaining insights into various aspects of the craft. He told us, "I began with the trimmer, who taught me about his role within the business: ordering and stock-checking in all materials...We then assembled what is called a tailor’s parcel, which contained the threads, facing felt, buttons, zippers and buckles rolled in the suiting patterns that had been cut and then wrapped in the canvas.” </p>
<p paraeid="{bb51a2f5-0bbe-4c92-bbc7-231b8acb99d6}{253}" paraid="1518003692">Throughout the day, Tom had the privilege of working with skilled tailors, including both the trouser cutter and jacket cutter. He even had the chance to try on a piece of history – Daniel Craig’s electric pink velvet jacket, worn on the red carpet at the 2021 James Bond Premier. Tom told us how excited he was to spend the day somewhere with such rich history, with the most iconic clientele such as Fred Astaire, Charlie Chaplin, Laurence Olivier, and more. </p>
<p paraeid="{b88d5ba6-0115-4924-91e1-9ff0890a2fe4}{20}" paraid="505641237">Reflecting on the experience, Tom emphasised the significance of his time at Anderson & Sheppard for his future pursuits. "This experience has introduced me to the fundamentals of tailoring and all the materials involved. My hope is that with a few more visits, I can take measurements and draft an exquisite jacket. My next step is to begin enrolment on the University of the West of England’s BA Fashion course, local to me this autumn." </p>
<p paraeid="{b88d5ba6-0115-4924-91e1-9ff0890a2fe4}{42}" paraid="1639355408">Tom also shared advice for fellow Fashion and Textiles learners: "Fashion’s a harsh game. But so long as one is prepared to carry on and go out to new places, meet new people, and learn new things, even without having any confidence, the world is your oyster." </p>
<p lang="EN-GB" paraeid="{f415bf94-75e9-42f1-b22b-669c75b7df89}{194}" paraid="1378734704" xml:lang="EN-GB">Throughout his time at Weston College, Tom has demonstrated exceptional commitment and passion – continuously investing in his future in the fashion industry. He even hosted his very own debut fashion show, which featured 15 bespoke looks designed and styled by him. <p lang="EN-GB" paraeid="{11748385-d7d6-4c4f-9063-5dc225e543e9}{63}" paraid="983586981" xml:lang="EN-GB">Weston College learners have returned triumphant after a successful day at the <a href="https://www.young-enterprise.org.uk/">Young Enterprise</a> Awards. </p>
<p lang="EN-GB" paraeid="{11748385-d7d6-4c4f-9063-5dc225e543e9}{158}" paraid="1965349881" xml:lang="EN-GB">This month, some of our fantastic Sixth Form learners attended the Young Enterprise Awards. One of our teams, ‘Crystals on a String’, secured an impressive three achievements, including the prestigious Award for Best Customer Service. </p>
<p lang="EN-GB" paraeid="{c2d8e61a-5021-417f-83e8-5c4dbc23b11f}{52}" paraid="820056269" xml:lang="EN-GB">All our learners worked incredibly hard throughout the competition to deliver carefully crafted presentations to a large audience. </p>
<p lang="EN-GB" paraeid="{9eade6b4-9f6c-4db2-a2ab-119f88f57b73}{192}" paraid="1189214915" xml:lang="EN-GB">We would like to give a special mention to Economics Lecturer, Aaron Wilson, who lead the team through the competition. His expertise, perseverance, and mentorship of the learners throughout the process ensured their success on the day. </p>
<p lang="EN-GB" paraeid="{839f3f9b-2306-4424-a1d0-5f64755ee1c9}{199}" paraid="100209216" xml:lang="EN-GB">We are so proud of our learners for what they have achieved. This experience has been invaluable for all teams taking part, and it is a great example of where hard work and dedication can get you. </p>
